Few days ago, a prominent Nigerian music artist named Brymo took to his social media platform to make a statement which was perceived to be an insult on the Igbos. During a recent live broadcast, he tendered an unreserved apology.

Brymo said, “I am sorry – I apologize – if what I said about the ‘igbos’ hurt anyone. I never meant it that way.” He explained what he meant in the viral tweet saying, “what pissed me off that day was because someone petitioned me after what I said about Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I felt she should not have turned down Nigeria’s award and get a chieftaincy title.”

He added, “that day, I was simply saying I don’t care about the petition. I never meant the meaning many people read to that tweet. I was not pointing at the Igbos, I can’t use someone in a team to judge all the players.”

Brymo, who has been a supporter of the presidential flag bearer of the ruling party, spoke further saying, “I have championed the course of the Igbo presidency in the past few years but people may not believe.”
